This is a question that lots of my customers ask me – particularly when we are setting up a website for a brand new business.
Before deciding on what content to put on your website, there are a couple of things to consider:
Who is my website for?
I think this is one of the most important thing to think about. Ask yourself – who will be looking at your website?
Is it to gain new customers, or is it to act as a portfolio for existing customers? Maybe it is to provide information or an introduction to your business.
Either way, the content should work for the person reading the site – ideally it should give a good overview of your business, including the main services you offer or products you sell. There needs to be enough website content on the website, so that potential customers want to reach out to you and find out more.
When someone has found my business website – what do I want them to do next?
Do you want them to call you? Email you? Buy a product from you on-line?
Whatever the answer is – you need to make sure that they are able to do this easily. Sounds simple enough – but how often do we find ourselves searching through a website trying to find a contact phone no or email address?
Are your contact details up-to-date and easy to find? If you sell products – is it easy for a customer to locate the product they are looking for? Because if people can’t find what they are looking for – then they will go elsewhere – to your competitors!
These are just a few things to consider when you embark on a website development; There are many more things to consider – so please feel free to contact J Turner Web Services for a chat if you would like some guidance with your business website.
