Website Design Basics Guide – Part 1
So your business needs a new website – where should you start?
Getting a new website for your business can be a confusing prospect. Having set up lots of websites for new businesses – here are a few pointers on things to think about:
First things first – you need a name!!
For an established business, this is normally fairly simple – as long as a domain name is available and not used by someone else, then the simplest option is to see if www.yourbusinessname.co.uk or www.yourbusinessname.com is available
Brand New Businesses:
For a brand new business, there is an enormous choice! You can opt for a domain name that uses the business name in it or one that incorporates the services you offer – such as dogwalkinglichfield.co.uk (for a dog walking business in Lichfield for example). In terms of SEO and Google it is preferable to use a domain name that uses some of the keywords that your customers might type into Google to find your website. So in this case for a dog walking service in Lichfield dogwalkinglichfield.co.uk would be better than merciacanines.co.uk.
A good place to look to see if domain names are available to use – is on domain name search – such as on 123-reg.co.uk
